We arrived at the Stillwater Campground at dusk, with a light rain falling, but despite the weather, the scenery was breathtaking. The campground is surrounded on three sides by the lake, and the fourth side features stunning golden autumn mountain views. The campsite was well-maintained, and we found little to complain about. It was late autumn, so while there were still some campers, the atmosphere was very peaceful, with only a few neighbors who, like us, seemed to enjoy the tranquility of the outdoors. We had prepared for the cooler autumn weather, and with warm gear and long sleeves, we slept comfortably through the night. One highlight of the campground is the availability of free hot showers, which was a blessing, especially for us visitors from California!

The next morning, the weather had cleared, and the scenery looked even more beautiful under the sunlight. We had originally planned to move on quickly, but the stunning fall colors and gorgeous lake views made us linger in the campground for the entire morning, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Though the campground itself doesn’t have any formal trails, many campsites closest to the lakeshore were closed for the off-season, which turned the lakeside area into our own private walking path.
