Austin, Texas] Austin Food Record: 6 Gourmet Restaurants with Snacks

Austin Cuisine

Austin has a lot of great restaurants, but this time we're only going to have a few atAustinI stayed for two days, and the main activities were in the city center. There weren't many restaurants in Austin, why? Because we focused on Texas barbecue, which is a favorite among tourists, and we all know that Texans want to have big portions of barbecue, so we were ambitious and wanted to eat everywhere, so after lunch, we just had to cut down on the portions. Anyway, I tried my best to eat it this time, so I'll organize it for your reference.

Cooper's Old Time Pit BBQ

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

When you come to Texas, you can't miss the barbecue. I had planned to go to Stubb's BBQ first, but unfortunately it wasn't open on that day, so I went to the second place on the list, Stubb's BBQ.Cooper's Old Time Pit BBQThe location is on Congress Ave. The location is on Congress Ave, which is quite convenient and not far from the State Capitol on foot.

There is a bar in the entrance where you can order wine, and then go ahead to order food, what meat you want to choose, we are very greedy every kind of want to point, and finally ordered fatty brisket, sirloin of beef, short rib, beef rib. brisket when you order you can choose to want to be fat or lean, fat meat is the most delicious. In addition, there are side dishes that you can order, we ordered roasted corn and potato salad, after ordering, you can get your own free sauce and beans on the side.

If you want to drink, you have to go to another bar, the bartender was very friendly, we talked for a long time, and then introduced us to a few other bars, the wine selection was also very good, we ended up ordering Austin Amber and Snowman Stout, I like the atmosphere of this restaurant, and we came early enough, there were not too many people, so it was very enjoyable to eat and drink. Overall, the pork was better than the beef, especially the brisket, which is the specialty of the restaurant and turned out to be the best, and I've had brisket at other restaurants in Texas that was not as good as this one.

Terry Black's BBQ

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

Terry Black's BBQThere are three locations in Texas, this one is in Lockhart and the Austin location is closer to Zilker Park, it's a big store but the parking lot is very small, making it a bit difficult to park. It takes a while to queue up, but you can order a drink at the bar in front of the store. We ordered Shiner's Black Lager and Margarita, and then looked at the various souvenir items at the gift shop while waiting in line, so we didn't feel like we were waiting too long.

We ordered side dish first and then meat, if you are hungry, you might have ordered too much side dish, the people next to us ordered side dish in Quart (32oz), they got a bucket full of meat, we just ordered the smallest 5oz. We ordered brisket, short rib, beef rib and sausage, but the lady who cut the meat slipped and dropped a big piece of meat on our plate, so she gave it to us. I think this place is slightly better than Cooper's Old Time Pit BBQ in general, and I highly recommend his Beef rib, the flavor is really great.

Jo's coffee

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

Jo's coffeeThat's what it is.South CongressWe went to the famous coffee shop with "I love you so much" written on the wall, but we only took photos in South Congress, and went to buy a cup of coffee in the Downtown branch. They use Stumptown coffee beans, which we liked. In fact, the store also sells many kinds of simple food, many people come here for breakfast.

We ate their famous Breakfast taco with cold brew at the airport store on our way back to the airport, my friends loved the cold brew and I devoured the breakfast taco in no time.

Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$$$

Moonshine Patio Bar & GrillLocated in an old building with a long history, the prices are on the high side but the service is top notch. I think it's a good place for a drink and a bite to eat, and you can come here between 4-6pm on Happy hour.

We were seated outdoors on the patio and the atmosphere was very cozy. The cocktails were very good, I liked his Frozen Bourbon Slush so much that I almost ordered another one. The Corn dog shrimp was my favorite appetizer, and I also ordered the Deviled eggs, Grilled Romaine, and Chicken Fried Steak; the Grilled Romaine was surprisingly good, but the other dishes were rather ordinary.

Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

Banger's Sausage House & Beer GardenThis bar on Rainy Street is known for its great selection of beers and is a great place for beer tasting. We were dumbfounded by the selection of beers on the wall, so we had to ask the bartender for a list to get our bearings, and you can get four beers per serving, but if you're having trouble choosing, they do offer some combinations, so you can find one that suits your preferred type of beer.

We chose Zilker Icy Boys, Zilker Coffee Milk Stout, Live Oak Big Bark Amber, and 512 Pecan Porter by ourselves, but I'm just going to keep a record of what I think. The first one is a light, smooth white beer. The second one was cool, it really tasted like coffee and was surprisingly smooth. The third was an Amber, which was a bit on the light side, but after our discussion, it won the first place. The last one, Porter, was the thickest, but it tasted slower and had the bitter flavor that Porter usually has.

Gus's Fried Chicken

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $

Gus's Fried ChickenIt's said to be the best fried chicken in Austin, but it's actually a chain restaurant that originated from Memphis, and now has branches in many states. Since I've had too much barbecue, it's good to have a southern flavor fried chicken instead. The seasoning of the chicken was good, especially the thighs were juicy and tender! However, the chicken breasts and wings we had were a little bit too fatty, so the quality was a bit inconsistent, so if you like fried chicken, you might want to give it a try.
