Half Moon Bay Dining】3 Must-Eat Restaurants in Half Moon Bay that You Can't Miss

Half Moon Bay Cuisine

Half Moon Bay(Half moon bay is located on the coast 40 minutes south of San Francisco and is a favorite of Bay Area residents.A little weekend getaway.Half Moon Bay is a must stop for those who come to the California coast for driving. With such a bustling beachside neighborhood, there are plenty of great Half Moon Bay restaurants to choose from. In this post, I'm going to summarize my top three restaurants and one brewery that I think are worth checking out in Half Moon Bay.

Sam's chowder house

It's a real tourist attraction. Every time I come here, it's a real tourist attraction.Half moon baySeeing that there are so many guests, I can't get in. This time in half moon bay after camping finally have the opportunity to come, the weekend 11 o'clock open we are ten thirty or so on the arrival, in the vicinity of the sway a bit to go after the queue, when the first batch of guests. We sat in an outdoor high seat, there is a heater blowing, while watching the sea view while eating seafood is quite comfortable.

It's a rare occasion to order food that is more bold, big bowl of chowder, special ceviche, fried seafood combo, seafood linguini, Bloody Mary, all of which I ordered. Their Crab and shrimp louiechowder is a lighter and less thick chowder amongst the coast chowder stores, and the flavor is very good. As for the ceviche, this is the special of the day, and the seafood is quite fresh. the fried seafood combo is huge, with two shrimps, a slice of fish, a crab cake, and a lot of calamari, served with French fries and Cole slaw. the crab cake is by far the most popular crab cake I've had on the west coast, like the ones I used to love to eat on the east coast. The crab cake at Sam's is very close to the crab cake I used to love in Maryland, but I couldn't eat any more, so I packed most of the crab cake for home. Basically, I ordered so many seafood dishes, and I was satisfied with each one of them.

We also recommend the special louie, which was the best I've had in the last ten years, with baby romaine, fresh blue crab, bay shrimp and green apple. For the cocktail, Bloody Mary is not a big drinker, but the mix was very good.

I could tell the restaurant was busy, but the service was good. Overall, I think this is a very standard California coast solid seafood restaurant, the price is reasonable, I originally thought that this is a store with a lot of tourists will be on the expensive side, but in fact, it is the price of the real seafood restaurant in the Bay Area. The taste is slightly more refreshing than the seafood restaurants I often eat at in Northern California, which I personally like.

Pasta Moon

This is said to be one of the top three restaurants in the Half moon bay area, and it's quite popular. Before we came here, we booked outdoor seating on the internet, and the overall atmosphere was very nice, and the service was also very attentive. The Italian food is not bad, probably middle to upper class. We ordered the Calamari fritto misto, peach salad, house made sausage pizza and Pappardelle pancetta. the calamari fritto misto was good, but the actual portion was smaller than I expected. The main course was also moderate, and the house made sausage pizza was actually enough for two people, so I ended up being very full.

La costanera

This is a Peruvian restaurant next to the Pillar point harbor. It is located in a prime location and the prices are on the high side, but all the dishes are very good. First up was the appetizer Calamari and Ceviche tasting, there are three kinds of ceviche, among which the ceviche pescado is the best in my opinion. The main course was Seafood paelle with Yuca chips, accompanied by Pisco sour and Sangria. I had a very happy meal, and it's been a long time since I've had good Peruvian food. Because I was in such a good mood, I even ordered some churros and lava cake for dessert. The churros is very famous, even I, who usually don't want to eat guinea fowl, found it very delicious.

Hop Dogma

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$
  • Cuisine: Beer
  • Location: Half moon bay
  • 餐廳網址: http://hopdogma.com

Hop Dogma is a local California brewery right next to La Costanera. We hadn't had any of their beers before, so we stopped in to give them a try. The outdoor seating looks very comfortable, but it's limited, so we had to sit by the window near the entrance of the mall next to us. The mall was quiet, as none of the stores were open.

There are so many different types of beers, if you want to try them, you can ask for flights at the bar, and you can choose four at a time to try. We ordered Cinder & Smoke, Black lager, Venti is large, Rocket surgery, Cinder & smoke is the most special one, it tastes like bacon flavor beer, it's worth to try. Cinder & smoke is the most special, it tastes like bacon flavor, Venti is large is a special coffee flavor, Black lager is a bitter stout, and Rocket surgey is much lighter.
