Seattle's Gourmet Chronicles: What and Where to Eat in the City

Must-Try | Pike Place Chowder

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

If you're visiting Seattle, you must visit Pike Place Chowder, a renowned culinary gem in the city. Pike Place Chowder specializes in a variety of chowder flavors. With so many options to choose from, if you're unsure like us, you can order the taster combo, which allows you to select four different flavors. My personal favorite is the more traditional New England clam chowder.

Our main location is at Pike Place Market, and it's always crowded. In fact, there are also branch locations nearby. If you don't like waiting in line, you can do as I did and look for a nearby branch. One time, I ate at the branch inside Westlake Shopping Mall, and the branch's flavors were just as good as the main location. However, there weren't many people, and when I visited, the small shop was only about 70% full.

Must-Try | Elliot's Oyster House

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$$$

Elliot's Oyster House is located across from Pike Place Market, right by the waterfront, and it's a well-known seafood restaurant. While the prices at this seafood restaurant may be a bit on the expensive side, it offers outdoor seating with a view of the sea, making dining here a delightful experience in itself. If you're looking to save money, you can visit during their happy hour, which runs from 3 PM to 4 PM. During happy hour, oysters are only $1 each, while outside of happy hour, they range from $2.5 to $3.5 per oyster, with a 50 cents price increase per hour. The happy hour menu also includes other dishes like fried calamari, fish tacos, and chowder. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients and have excellent flavors.

Recommended | Kizuki Ramen

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

Kizuki Ramen is located a bit further away from the popular tourist areas but is a well-loved ramen shop in the area. We ordered two types of ramen, one being the special yuzu chicken broth ramen of the day, which had a refreshing taste and was delicious. The other bowl was the highly recommended garlic tonkotsu soy ramen, served with medium-wide noodles and had a richer flavor, which was also very tasty. For appetizers, we ordered octopus balls and chicken karaage, and overall, the appetizers at this place were excellent too. It's an authentic Japanese ramen shop experience.

Recommended | Toulouse Petit

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$$$$

Toulouse Petit is said to be the fifth-ranked restaurant in the United States, and it's most famous for its brunch. However, we dined there for dinner, and the bar inside the restaurant seemed quite lively. We ordered a cocktail, a plate of yelloweye steelhead + shrimp, and a seafood gumbo. The dishes excelled in flavor and seasoning.

Must-See | Starbucks Reserve

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

Starbucks Reserve can be found in many places, but Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks, so coming here to enjoy coffee tasting feels special. The Starbucks flagship store on Pike Street is especially large and offers a great experience. There are many tourists inside, and they sell a variety of unique souvenirs in addition to great coffee.

The tasting flight costs $18 and includes three different coffee flavors. We preferred less acidic flavors and, with the recommendations from the barista, chose Brazil and Papua New Guinea. The third option was Rwanda, which was highly recommended by the staff in the store.

Recommended | Fremont Brewing Company

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

Fremont Brewery is one of Seattle's craft beer havens, located in Fremont. They specialize in small-batch craft beers, offering a wide variety of choices. The brewery has ample space, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. It's a great place for those who enjoy sharing a drink with a few friends. Highly recommended for beer enthusiasts!

Recommended | Nana's Green Tea

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

This place is located near downtown, and they serve delicious food with a great atmosphere inside. I particularly enjoy their Matcha parfait.

Recommended | Seattle Kombucha Company

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Price: $$

Seattle Kombucha Company is a little gem we stumbled upon while wandering around Pike Place Market. After taking a sip, we realized it was the best drink we found in Seattle. At the time, we purchased two flavors: Lady Gray, a blend of lavender and Earl Gray, and OMG, which combines orange, mango, and ginger.
