Bodega bay weekend itinerary
Bodega bay is located on the north side of San Francisco, a little north of Point Reyes, an hour and a half drive from San Francisco.Sonoma coast state parkI was lucky enough to get a date with Bodega Dunes campground for the weekend. This time, I was lucky enough to book a weekend camping trip to Bodega Dunes campground, so I came to Bodega bay for a two days and one night trip. Compared to other camping trips, Bodega bay is actually very relaxing, featuring beautiful sea view and seafood nearby.
- Day 1: Departed after noon, had lunch at Fishetarion Fish Market before entering Bodega Dunes Campground.
- Day 2: Woke up early and jogged along the coastal trail next to the campground, returned to the campground to enjoy the morning's relaxation, went to the Bodega head trail after noon to enjoy the beautiful sea view, and then went to the Spud point crab co to have dinner to end the day.
Bodega Dunes Campground
Sonoma coast state park has two campgrounds, one is Bodega dunes campground and the other one is Wright's beach campground, both of them are quite close to each other. Camping Experience

Because it is on the beach, the campground has more sand (it is called Bodega Dunes after all). You can't see the sea from the campground itself, but some of the spots, like the one we stayed at, are completely covered with sand, which is similar to camping on the beach. It was a little bit wet at night, but the wind was not too strong. Luckily, the wind wasn't too strong, so overall it was quite cozy, and we didn't have to worry about wild animals coming to steal our food at night.

There is a lot of space in the campground and you can park a lot of cars, and there is also extra parking not too far away, and some people bring a projector screen to make an outdoor theater.
- Facility Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The campground facilities are kept very clean and the restrooms are one of the cleanest in the area. There are water faucets about every two campsites.
- Location Convenience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you want to take a walk, there are two trails within the campground, but if you want to walk to the beach, it will take about 10 minutes. However, the main point of this campground is that it is easy to drive to the attractions and restaurants, there are good restaurants just five minutes away by car, and there are many hiking trails nearby in the Sonoma Coast state park that you can go to, and if you want to go to Point Reyes, it's not too far away either.

For a beach campground, this is a great choice because it's not too windy and it's close to the beach. For cleanliness and convenient location, I think I can give it a very high rating.
Bodega Head Trail
Sonoma Coast State Park has a lot of trails, with 16 miles of rocky shores and sandy beaches. Most of the beach trails are very gentle and easy. We took the Bodega head trail, which is a 2 mile loop around the cape of Bodega bay, with a nice view of the rocky shore. Usually, the weather would be better after noon, but in the morning, it would be foggy and wet. The weather can change quite fast, we stayed for about 2 hours, when we left, the sky was cloudy again.
Although there are not many flowers in the summer, you can still see some of them in full bloom. During the whale-watching season from December to April, this is a good place to watch whales. When I came here in July, there were no whales, but there were still seals and free seabirds on the rocks. When we went to a less crowded area, we even came across some deer.
Bodega Bay Cuisine
As I mentioned earlier, Bodega bay has a lot of good food, usually we come to Bodega bay to have a relaxing seafood restaurant, so let's organize a few of them for your reference.

If you have to choose, I recommend the fish and chips, Maui Wowie oyster, and clam chowder. his Maui Wowie sauce is quite special, and the clam chowder is rich and flavorful.

Spud Point Crab Co.

This restaurant sells very simple things, just sandwiches and chowder, the crabs painted on the signboard, because he specializes in crab sandwiches, but in fact, his clam chowder is more famous, it is said to have won the first place in the Northern Canada clam chowder competition every year. In fact, every clam chowder in Bodega Bay is very famous and the competition is very fierce, so it's amazing to be able to win the first place all the time. there are red clam chowder and white clam chowder, both of them are very good, but I still prefer the white clam chowder. The crab meat sandwich was very generous with the crab meat, and was served with a very tasty French bread, which was also worthy of being a staple. The bread itself was so good that many people bought the whole loaf to take home.
We hoped that there would be fewer people after lunch time, but when we came back two hours later, the queue hadn't gotten any shorter, and the line was about 40 minutes long.
