【North Carolina Campground】New Brighton State Beach

New Brighton State Beach

New Brighton State BeachIt is a state beach in Northern California, located in theSanta CruzEast Side. New Brighton state beach is one of the less crowded beaches, and in the 1850's the then mayor of San Jose, Thomas Fallon, bought the area and built a beach resort, named it the same as his resort in England. The advantage of camping here is that the campsite is on the cliffs of the beach, the view of the sea is very beautiful, you can even watch whales directly from the campsite, but if you prefer to stay in a hotel, there are of course hotels on the other side of the beach that you can book now. Distance fromSanta CruzIn fact, it's only a 20-minute drive, and it's very convenient to go to Santa Cruz. The price of the campground reservation is the price of the state park, and this time, the reservation is 50 magnesium for a premier campsite location on the beach.

New Brighton State Beach is a very comfortable place to camp. Although it is on the beach, there are trees on the campsites and it is not very sunny, there is no sand on the campsites, but the ground is soft enough without having to lay sleeping mats. We have been here twice, the first time was in the Premium campsite by the sea, the second time was in the campsite a little farther away from the sea, but also on the cliffs where you can see the sea, the Premium campsite is the row closest to the sea. The Premium campsite was the row closest to the sea, and I was able to watch the whales from a high place, which was very comfortable, and I fell asleep at night listening to the sound of the waves. If you sit farther away from the sea, the sea view is not as close, but it is a bit quieter.

Even in the smaller campgrounds, each campsite has parking spaces for about four RVs, and we did see many people camping with several families, and there was still plenty of space left for four tents and party tables and chairs. The campsite we stayed at the second time was so big that it could be used as a group site, and we could probably set up 10 tents without any problem.

The campground is clean and the restrooms have hot showers. If you only consider the accessibility to the beach trail and campground facilities, you can give it 5 stars, it's right next door. The trail to the beach is not far away, so it's easy to play in the water. Although the beach is small, it is not crowded. However, the nearest town is a 10-minute drive away, so I would only give it 3 stars for convenience. It is mainly a campground for relaxing and watching the sea.

New Brighton Beach Trail

From the Day Use Area next to the campground, there is a beach trail, walk down the beach trail, and in two minutes, you are standing on New Brighton Beach. The beach is not crowded, so it is very relaxing to play here.

Before it was turned into a resort, the beach was a small fishing village where Chinese immigrants lived. Many Chinese immigrants came to California for the construction of the California Railroad, and some of them fished here for a living, which is why the beach was once called China beach, but the fishing village disappeared due to the construction of a resort and the anti-Chinese atmosphere in the 1890s, which eventually led to the government legislating to prohibit fishing here.

Oak Trail

If you are tired of the beach and want to climb the mountain, there is an Oak trail inland, the entrance is just opposite to the beach access. The entrance is just opposite to the beach access. You can also walk up from the parking lot next to the beach on a small hill. This trail is connected to the railroad tracks, there are trees on both sides of the tracks, walking is quite easy, the terrain is a little higher, so you can find a good angle to see a more open view of the bay.
